Queen High (1930)

Contrary to one review on IMDb, I really enjoyed this movie! As a normal person who is not a seasoned film critic, I just paid attention to the plot and I found it fun and entertaining. While I was slightly disappointed that Ginger's story lacked in development towards the end, I loved how all the characters seemed like they were always having a good laugh. The laughs appeared very natural which always makes the scene funnier for me. It is worth the look if you are interested in Ginger and/or very small pre-code touches.

  1. ...Actually, I have it now (thanks!), but I let my mom borrow it... she is watching a lot of the 'early' Ginger ones, and seems to like them. I may have to put a 'Ma's critique corner' on G-ology soon, since she is becoming as well-versed on VKM as I am!!! Of course, I could just play it on the computer, which I may very well do here soon...
I actually have fallen behind a bit on the 'viewing'... did watch 'Twist of Fate' the other night, thought it was quite good - the plot did have a few 'twists', enough to keep it intersting... I also really liked the 'real' Ginger role she played, again in her early 40's...

  3. Hi Jennifer!

Just making sure which one you are talking about - figured it is 'Queen High'... Lauren would have to explain that one...

  5. ...just watched it...it is a cute movie... of course Ginger is so cute, it just hurts! Even at this young age, tho, you still pick up on her 'Gingerisms' - just facial expressions, movement, etc... real cool to watch! Thanks again, Lauren!
P.S. - The kitchen 'song' was just a bit bizzare, no?

  6. Yeah... it was odd. The maid was odd too though! Did you notice how she walked down the stairs?

  7. ...pretty bowlegged! I hope that was 'acting'... reminds me of another of my favorite quotes, from Captain Quint in the movie 'Jaws' (which, BTW, is also one of my fav 'latter day' flicks) - (singing) "I love to go swimmin' with bowlegged women..."
